The event
It is a Holy Year in Compostela when 25 July, the commemoration of the martyrdom of Saint James, falls on a Sunday; the cycle runs every eleven, six, five and six years, and 2027 is the next. The Holy Door of the Cathedral, walled up in ordinary years, is opened on 31 December 2026 and stays open through 31 December 2027.
